Prayer to Invite the Holy Spirit Day 8

The theme for day 8 is healing the wounded from Acts 12. Ministry involves relationships between imperfect people and invariably this results in offenses but Jesus warned in

Matthew 18:7 Woe to the world because of causes for stumbling, for it is a necessity that causes for stumbling come; nevertheless, woe to the person through whom the cause for stumbling comes.

Every church could make a list of those who have left hurt or wounded by the words or actions of others. Some leave and search for another Church, yet many simply drop out altogether. What would the Church be like if we could somehow reclaim all of these people who are once part of the body of Christ? But it isn’t just members of congregations that are affected. Casualties among leaders are just as numerous as those within the congregations. But what if these people, these ministers of the gospel could be healed? Do we understand the power of confession and the greater power of forgiveness? What if we could get over our offense and instead, honestly and in love, confront one another to accomplish reconciliation as it says in

James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much.

Jesus said that we would have affliction in

John 16:33 I have said these things to you so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have affliction, but have courage! I have conquered the world.”

And we sometimes take this to mean that all of our opposition will come from unbelievers. But sometimes it comes from those closest to us and there certainly is an adversary, and our greatest battle is in

Ephesians 6:12 because our struggle is not against blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Pastors and spiritual leaders are not exempt, in fact, they are the point men and women in the spiritual realm and often face even greater opposition. Jesus said this in

Matthew 26:31 Then Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away because of me during this night, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’

and it is true that our enemy loves nothing more than to see an effective spiritual leader fall. Any failure in ministry is painful regardless of the reason whether it is pastor burn out, the breakup of a leader’s marriage, slander of a Church leader, lack of recognition, insufficient compensation, the list of offenses is endless and the results are the same. Feelings are hurt, a wound is inflicted, resentment and anger set in, and ultimately a root of bitterness and they don’t minister any longer.

Our spiritual leaders, named in

Ephesians 4:11–13 And he himself gave some as apostles and some as prophets and some as evangelists and some as pastors and teachers 12 for the equipping of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all reach the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to a measure of the maturity of the fullness of Christ,

need to be protected and blessed in prayer. We are to pray for all people, beginning with those in authority as in

1 Timothy 2:1–3 Therefore, I urge first of all that petitions, prayers, requests, and thanksgiving be made on behalf of all people, 2 on behalf of kings and all those who are in authority, in order that we may live a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and acceptable before God our Savior,

In Acts 12 we read that Peter had been arrested and thrown in prison by Herod who intended to have him put to death. Then we read in

Acts 12:5 Thus Peter was kept in the prison, but prayer was fervently being made to God by the church for him.

It was not a single person or small group, but it was the whole church in Jerusalem praying for Peter. And their prayer was fervent. That night, God sent an Angel that set Peter free and walked him out of the prison. Peter went and told them all that God had answered their prayers and delivered him. How wonderful it would be if those that have been wounded or captured or even thos that have been rejected were healed and returned to fellowship. Every church needs to see broken relationships restored. Pray and name someone you know that has given up on the church and ask God to bring them back. Earnestly request their healing. Pray for a spirit of forgiveness to reach all.

So far, we have only talked about those that are casualties in our own congregations. There are though, many in other countries that are persecuted only because they are Christians. These believers are actually in prison for their faith. Learn about these countries. Learn about these people and pray for them. They also are a part of the body of Christ and part of our life in Christ is to set captives free. This work happens when we gather together and pray. We are to pray and act to return people to fellowship with the Lord and with us as fellow believers. Our job is to gracefully and prayerfully restore those that have fallen whatever the reason.

The Word Guiding Prayer for the Day

Acts 12:5 Thus Peter was kept in the prison, but prayer was fervently being made to God by the church for him.

Acts 12:7 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood near him, and a light shone in the prison cell. And striking Peter’s side, he woke him up, saying, “Get up quickly!” And his chains fell off of his hands.

John 16:1–4 “I have said these things to you so that you will not fall away. 2 They will expel you from the synagogue, but an hour is coming that everyone who kills you will think they are offering service to God. 3 And they will do these things because they do not know the Father or me. 4 But I have said these things to you so that when their hour comes, you may remember that I told you about them. “And I have not said these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you.

Prayer to Invite the Holy Spirit Day 7

The theme for day 7 is a harvest of households from Acts 10 where we find a Gentile, a Roman Centurion named Cornelius, that was devout, and generous to the Jewish people and the poor, and prayed regularly, yet he was lost. These acts, doing good and following religious traditions are not enough. Salvation only comes through the work that Jesus Christ did on the cross. Salvation only comes through his death, burial and resurrection. But God saw that Cornelius was seeking him and an angel of the Lord brought him a message in

Acts 10:4–5 And he stared at him and became terrified and* said, “What is it, Lord?” And he said to him, “Your prayers and your charitable deeds have gone up for a memorial offering before God. 5 And now, send men to Joppa and summon a certain Simon, who is also called Peter.

This was the moment for Cornelius to be saved, but the angel did not bring him the gospel. Men are entrusted with this message. We are the ones that deliver this good news.

But Peter was a Jewish man and they were forbidden by law to associate with the Gentiles. Even though Jesus had told his disciples the gospel was for the whole world in

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed in the whole inhabited earth for a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

they were still bound by the Jewish traditions. God had to prepare Peter so he would be willing to go to Cornelius so Peter also has a vision in

Acts 10:15 And the voice came again to him for the second time: “The things which God has made clean, you must not consider unclean!”

As Peter makes the journey from where he was, Joppa, to Caesarea and the home of Cornelius, Cornelius has gathered his whole household to hear what Peter has to say. Peter begins to speak the gospel in

Acts 10:38–40 Jesus of Nazareth—how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with him. 39 And we are witnesses of all the things that he did both in the land of the Judeans and in Jerusalem, whom they also executed by* hanging him* on a tree. 40 God raised this one up on the third day and granted that he should become visible

and as he is speaking, the Holy Ghost fell on them all in

Acts 10:44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who were listening to the message.

The culture of the day was somewhat different with extended families often living together so it was not uncommon for households to be saved as also happened with the Roman jailer in Acts 16:29-34. The gospel was often preached and taught as believers gathered together in these home groups as in

Acts 5:42 Every day, both in the temple courts and from house to house, they did not stop teaching and proclaiming the good news that the Christ was Jesus.

and it was in a home that Saul received the gospel in

Acts 9:11 And the Lord said to him, “Get up, go to the street called ‘Straight’ and in the house of Judas look for a man named Saul from Tarsus. For behold, he is praying,

and it was in a house that Peter went to find them praying together in

Acts 12:12 And when he realized this, he went to the house of Mary, the mother of John (who is also called Mark), where many people were gathered together and were praying.

In the early years of the church, there were not organized, well-established bodies of believers in every place. They often met in homes and small groups as they were beginning to establish themselves in their communities. Today we might call them house churches, but whatever name we give, these were the homes of believers. And in these homes, there were Christ-loving, people-loving, Holy Spirit-filled, hospitable believers that joined together for prayer and to be the living witness those around them needed to see.

Today, it is not Jew and Gentile, but there are many different languages, cultural, and religious groups that are isolated from one another just as Cornelius and his household were isolated from Peter. Pray that God will move by drawing those that don’t know him and prepare us to be able to receive those that are not like us.

The Word Guiding Prayer for the Day

John 4:34–35 Jesus said to them, “My food is that I do the will of the one who sent me and complete his work. 35 Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months and the harvest comes’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, that they are white for harvest already.

Luke 10:1 And after these things, the Lord also appointed seventy-two others and sent them out two by two before him into every town and place where he was about to go.

Prayer to Invite the Holy Spirit Day 6

The theme for day 6 is Damascus road conversions from Acts 9. Without the intervention of Jesus Christ directly in the life of Paul, well Saul before he was converted, we would not have this great apostle and all the work that he did to bring the gospel to the Gentiles.

Paul was unexpectedly converted. He was a Pharisee of the Pharisees and he was the one who was seeking to stop Christians wherever they were. Saul actively sought to find Christians and to bring them back to Jerusalem to punish them for following after the way. But then he was converted. No one preached to him. No one read to him the four spiritual laws. No one invited him to Church. He was simply arrested by a personal encounter with Jesus Christ.

What was it that caused Paul, then known as Saul, to experience such a spontaneous conversion? Well, the Bible doesn’t say this but it’s quite possible that it was the Christians who had fled Jerusalem and some that had fled to Damascus that we’re praying that God would protect them and do something about Saul who was such an opposition to the church. It is possible that God listened to those prayers and responded by confronting Saul. But God is not bound to use us, it is also possible that God sovereignly chose Saul. In either case, God listens to his saints and he gives us what we ask for and if we ask for those who are opposing we might just find God answering.

The challenge here is that every individual has the free will to choose to accept Christ, or reject him. When God calls, we who are Christians, answered and came to him. But even Jesus himself was not able to convince every person of the truth of who he is. For these people that opposed him he said in

Luke 6:35–36 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend expecting back nothing, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful!

The best that we can do is love them and be willing to accept those that do receive the great grace of God’s salvation as Saul did. We can, and also should pray for those like Ananias who must overcome the reputation of those that have persecuted the Church and must find faith to believe that God has converted them. In his natural mind, Ananias responded in

Acts 9:13 But Ananias replied, “Lord, I have heard from many people about this man, how much harm he has done to your saints in Jerusalem”

but then Ananias went on to pray for Paul in

Acts 9:17 So Ananias departed and entered into the house, and placing his hands on him, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you came, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

And, Barnabas also accepted Paul and helped him gain acceptance with other believers in

Acts 9:27 But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles and related to them how he had seen the Lord on the road and that he had spoken to him, and how in Damascus he had spoken boldly in the name of Jesus.

With the conversion of Saul, the opposition was quieted and a new and strong voice emerged speaking boldly in the name of Jesus so that in

Acts 9:31 Then the church throughout all of Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace, being strengthened. And living in the fear of the Lord and the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, it was increasing in numbers.

The Word Guiding Prayer for the Day

John 6:44 No one is able to come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up on the last day.

1 Corinthians 12:3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus is accursed,” and no one is able to say “Jesus is Lord” except by the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:26–27 And likewise also, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how to pray as one ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with unexpressed groanings. 27 And the one who searches our hearts knows what the mindset of the Spirit is, because he intercedes on behalf of the saints according to the will of God.

Prayer to Invite the Holy Spirit Day 5

The theme for day five is evangelistic outreach from Acts 8 where and what we find that those who are ready to preach the good news, those who are ready to share the gospel, often found themselves with divine appointments. They were at the right place at the right time to tell the gospel to someone that was ready to hear. Here, Philip was preaching the gospel throughout Samaria with good results in

Acts 8:12 “But when they believed Philip as he* was proclaiming the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were being baptized.”

And then, Philip heard a strange word from the Lord in

Acts 8:26 Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Get up and go toward the south on the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” (This is a desert road.)

Philip was only told to go and stand on a road outside of town. He did not tell him what to do when he got there he simply said go. As Philip responded he found that there was a man in a chariot in

Acts 8:27 And he got up and went, and behold, there was a man, an Ethiopian eunuch (a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasury) who had come to worship in Jerusalem

Then the spirit spoke to him again in

Acts 8:29 And the Spirit said to Philip, “Approach and join this chariot.”

You can imagine Philip wondering who’s out on this desert road and trying to act natural as he introduces himself to this man. God was positioning Philip to be in the right place to minister the gospel to the Ethiopian eunuch who was ready to receive it. There are moments when people are ready to receive the gospel. These windows of time don’t come naturally, they often require some preparation as Philip went to this desert place and as Paul later went to Jerusalem even though the prophets told him trouble waited for him. Paul spent two years in prison before he was able to present the gospel to the Roman governor of Israel and the king of Israel and his wife.

These windows of time come when God is drawing someone. They may come when someone has received bad news or when they’ve experienced loss or heartbreak, it may happen with a change in job or can also happen when someone is just seeking the Lord. Philip responded to the voice of the Lord and did what may have seemed silly to him, and as he did, the Ethiopian eunuch responded by listening and then saying in

Acts 8:36–38 And as they were traveling down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “Look! Water! What prevents me from being baptized?” 38 And he ordered the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water—Philip and the eunuch—and he baptized him.

Right there he received the Lord and was baptized.

As you begin to read and pray through Acts 8, ask God to raise you up and to raise up other Philips in your city to follow the leading of his spirit and to share the message of Jesus with people that are ready to hear. Pray for divine appointments to be set and fulfilled for effective evangelism. Ask the Father to send laborers into all parts of your community where Jesus is not known as Jesus did in

Luke 10:2 And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore ask the Lord of the harvest that he send out workers into his harvest.

Begin to get specific in your prayers and ask the father for divine appointments in your county courthouse, local hospital, with the police and sheriff departments, with paid and volunteer organizations in your community. The object is to penetrate unique groupings of people with the Gospel. Also, pray creatively for a breakthrough with special interest organizations such as motorcycle clubs, an arts appreciation league, or a single parent co-op. Include media outlets in your prayer list then pray specifically that they are redeemed for the kingdom God to publish good news. As you pray expect breakthroughs in low-income projects, nursing homes, drug houses, local teenage hangouts, apartment complexes. Wherever there are people, there is a need for us to be a visible witness for Christ. And where the gospel is preached and accepted, it produces results as in

Acts 8:8 And there was great joy in that city.

Imagine the joy caused by healed marriages, change lives, and lower crime rates as public testimonies about Christ happens right where you are.

The Word Guiding Prayer for the Day

Matthew 28:19–20 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the age.”

Matthew 9:37–38 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. 38 Therefore ask the Lord of the harvest that he send out workers into his harvest.”

Acts 8:4 Now those who had been scattered went about proclaiming the good news of the word.

John 14:26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name—that one will teach you all things, and will remind you of everything that I said to you.

Prayer to Invite the Holy Spirit Day 4

The theme for day four is God delivering us from evil from Acts 4. The reality in the church is that we have opposition when we’re preaching the gospel and this is illustrated very well as Peter and John were told in

Acts 4:18 And they called them back and commanded them not to speak or to teach at all in the name of Jesus.

They responded that they must obey God and not man in

Acts 4:19–20 But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than God, you decide! 20 For we are not able to refrain from speaking about the things that we have seen and heard.”

but they also went and told other believers in

Acts 4:23 And when they were released, they went to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them.

The church gathered together and they prayed in

Acts 4:24 And when they heard it, they lifted their voices with one mind to God and said, “Master, you are the one who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all the things in them,

and it says that after this, they were filled with boldness to go back and do again the very thing that had caused the resistance in

Acts 4:33 And with great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was on them all.

In order for us to claim a community for Jesus Christ, we must overcome opposition. This opposition comes in many forms but mainly it results from strongholds that are systems of thinking that are attitudes, beliefs, expectations that people have developed over time. These strongholds come from the culture that we live in, the way that we believe, and the traditions we have been taught. To change these things we often need strong teaching of the truth’s in God’s word as Peter and John proclaimed. But it takes spiritual warfare to dismantle those strongholds and replace them with divine strongholds. Our primary weapon for accomplishing this is Prayer.

There are many things that we can call strongholds but there are six key areas that oppose the movement of the Holy Spirit in a city. In each of these areas, there’s a specific prayer emphasis that if applied with enough persistence will overcome the opposing force and replace it with a divine stronghold, a system of attitudes, beliefs, and expectations that allows God’s continual rule and reign in the territory.

  1. The stronghold of religion relates to worship based on the traditions and doctrines of man. This includes pagan religions, man-centered gospels, and religious acts done for the sake of appearance. This stronghold is dismantled through the prayer of seeking God, yearning to see God’s face not just seeking His hand. As we seek after God with all our hearts, He establishes a divine stronghold of His manifest presence which is where true religion resides. Jesus said in

John 4:24 God is spirit, and the ones who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

  2. The stronghold of pride stems from our feelings of independence and self-sufficiency. This is a real challenge in our culture because we rely on ourselves to get things done. We have many sayings like “I did it my way”, “pick yourself up by your bootstraps”, “you can be anything you want to be”. We rely on our location or education or experience or on our innovative programs to draw people into a relationship with Christ. When we pray in brokenness before God, recognizing that we are nothing apart from Him, He plants his stronghold of salvation in our church.
  3. The stronghold of accusation which relates mainly to our treatment of pastors and leaders in the body of Christ but also to the way we treat other people. God takes it personally when one He has called is abused or taken for granted. The prayer of honor breaks this. When we pray protection and blessing over our shepherd it crumbles this stronghold and invites the favor of God to dwell in Its Place.
  4. The stronghold of prejudice is built on attitudes of racial or cultural or denominational superiority where we set ourselves above others in the body of Christ. Where there is unity through the prayer of agreement God pours out his blessing and the stage can be set for revival.
  5. The stronghold of judgment is felt were self-righteous Christianity sets the spiritual standards based on performance or works. As we pray the prayer of compassion, the grace of God flows soothing the wounds of criticism and rejection.
  6. The stronghold of fear arises out of the issue of control. Political powers, ungodly people, Satan and his principalities, and world systems all oppose the movement of the spirit because they are afraid of losing control over people and situations. The prayer of faith dispells fear and invites God to establish this stronghold of peace.

Acts 4 is a call to serve an eviction notice on the forces of evil that dwell in the city as we pray in the divine strongholds of God. By definition, a stronghold of any kind takes time to develop and is subsequently difficult to take down. But once divine strongholds are established the Holy Spirit can dwell in a place and produce fruit for the kingdom.

The Word Guiding Prayer for the Day

John 15:20 Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will keep yours also.

2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.

Acts 4:29–30 And now, Lord, concern yourself with their threats and grant your slaves to speak your message with all boldness, 30 as you extend your hand to heal and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

Acts 4:32 Now the group of those who believed were one heart and soul, and no one said anything of what belonged to him was his own, but all things were theirs in common.

Prayer to Invite the Holy Spirit Day 3

Acts 3 demonstrates the power of God by confirming the words spoken by Peter and John with miraculous healing that they later describe in

Acts 4:10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man stands before you healthy!

Peter goes on to affirm that there is no other savior in

Acts 4:12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among people by which we must be saved.”

It is quite probable that this man had been sitting in this same spot when Jesus came and went to teach in the temple and he may have seen or heard of other people being healed. But on this day, his life was changed. While the disciples had received boldness to proclaim the name of Jesus with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, it is this demonstration of power to transform lives that Jesus came to deliver.

In the Old Testament, God revealed himself by his name. He is called El Shaddai, the almighty one and Tsidkenu, the Lord our righteousness and Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals and Jehovah Shalom, the Lord is peace and Jehovah Jireh, the Lord our provider and the list goes on, but now, the nature of God is revealed in one name, Jesus. It is in Jesus name that we have access to the throne of God in

Hebrews 4:16 Therefore let us approach with confidence to the throne of grace, in order that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

It is in Jesus name that we ask in

John 16:23 And on that day you will ask me nothing. Truly, truly I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give you.

and we know God’s will because Jesus demonstrated it to us so we know we will receive an answer in

1 John 5:14–15 And this is the confidence that we have before him: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked from him.

In our culture, the power of a name is much diminished, but in the covenant culture in Jesus’ day, and the culture of God’s kingdom, having the name of the king represented all of the power behind that name. So Jesus was transferring power and authority to us when he said in

John 17:6 “I have revealed your name to the men whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours, and you have given them to me, and they have kept your word.

This power was demonstrated through them in

Matthew 10:1 And summoning his twelve disciples, he gave them authority over unclean spirits, so that they could expel them and could heal every disease and every sickness.

When we pray “in Jesus name”, we invoke His power and authority as He sits at the right hand the Father. We are his Church, his redeemed, bought with a price, the very life of Jesus. It is in that name that we have protection and it is Jesus that is our advocate with the Father as in

John 17:15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you protect them from the evil one.

In the Old Testament, the Lord demonstrated his power and “made for yourself a name” in

Jeremiah 32:20–21 who accomplished signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, up to this day, and in Israel, and among humankind, and you have made for yourself a name, as it is this day. 21 And you brought out your people Israel from the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with an arm stretched out, and with great terror.

and he is still working in this same way to make for himself a name by delivering people from trouble, by transforming their lives as he takes them from darkness to light.

But in the world, there are those that will try to stop this move of God as in

Acts 4:18 And they called them back and commanded them not to speak or to teach at all in the name of Jesus.

and just as Peter and John answered, so are we to go forward in

Acts 4:19–20 But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than God, you decide! 20 For we are not able to refrain from speaking about the things that we have seen and heard.”

The Word Guiding Prayer for the Day

Acts 3:6 But Peter said, “Silver and gold ⌊I do not possess⌋, but what I have, this I give to you—in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, walk!”

John 14:12–14 Truly, truly I say to you, the one who believes in me, the works that I am doing he will do also, and he will do greater works than these because I am going to the Father. 13 And whatever you ask in my name, I will do this, in order that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.

Luke 10:8–9 And into whatever town you enter and they welcome you, eat whatever is set before you, 9 and heal the sick in it, and say to them, “The kingdom of God has come near to you.”

Answers

Expect God to answer. Write down perceptions, insights as you are praying. Give thanks as God does answer. Remember that He is far above all and yet, is involved in the affairs of men in

Psalm 8:1 Yahweh, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth, who put your splendor above the heavens.

And remember that He is the one that made the heavens and the earth in

Jeremiah 32:17–20 ‘Ah Lord Yahweh! Look, you made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm. Nothing is too difficult for you, 18 showing loyal love to the thousands, and repaying the guilt of parents into the laps of their children after them. Powerful, great, mighty, his name is Yahweh of hosts, 19 great in counsel and great in deed, whose eyes are opened to all the ways of the children of humankind, to give to each one according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds, 20 who accomplished signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, up to this day, and in Israel, and among humankind, and you have made for yourself a name, as it is this day.
