The Bible 2020 Initiative
The “Bible 2020 is a global movement” to encourage “Everyone, Everywhere” to read “God’s Word aloud across the world”. Whether you are reading this on January 1, 2020, or sometime later, get connected at: https://bible2020.org/ and begin reading God’s word out loud every day.
This initiative, “Bible2020 is being pioneered by the Scottish Bible Society”, one of many bible societies that are seeking to make “the Bible available, known and loved”. They have made these daily Bible readings available by download of a pdf through any web browser at: https://bible2020.org/resources/, or by downloading the Bible 2020 app for any smartphone. From the phone app, you can record and share your reading in your language or listen to others as they read in their language.
Whether you join this initiative or not, pick up a bible, an old-fashioned bound book, a computer-based tool, or an app on your phone, and read the Bible for yourself daily. This was God’s command to the kings of Israel in Deuteronomy 17:18–19 (LEB) “And then when he is sitting on the throne of his kingdom, then he shall write for himself a copy of this law on a scroll before the Levitical priests. 19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to revere Yahweh your God by diligently observing all the word of this law and these rules” and it was the practice in the early church in Acts 5:42 (LEB) “Every day, both in the temple courts and from house to house, they did not stop teaching and proclaiming the good news that the Christ was Jesus”.
