Dear Friends
We have an admonition written to us as brothers and sisters in Christ. It begins, though, with us understanding the world that we live in. There are those in the world that have a destructive and divisive nature. As Jude 16 (LEB) characterizes them as “grumblers, discontented, proceeding according to their desires, and their mouths speaking pompous words, showing partiality to gain an advantage”. The writer of Jude explains further the Lords plan:
Jude 14-15a (NLT) Enoch, who lived in the seventh generation after Adam, prophesied about these people. He said, “Listen! The Lord is coming with countless thousands of his holy ones 15 to execute judgment on the people of the world.
This was spoken by Enoch many many years before this letter was written. And as we look forward, we see the Lord is on His throne in Revelation 4 and we, who have been born again and sealed by His spirit, have access to His presence with the host of heaven.
In Revelation 5 Jesus takes the book and opens the seals and fulfills the judgments written there. And, we, until that day, we, dear friends, have three actions from Jude 20-23:
- Build each other up praying in the spirit.
- Encourage those weak in faith.
- Snatch some from the fire.
And these things we do as we love people even though we may hate the effects of sin in their lives.
